Why have a grading system for pole dancing?
With the massive popularity of pole dancing throughout the world we have found the implementation of a grading system has benefited students immensely, giving clearly defined goals to work towards along with setting the standard of pole dancers to come.
It is not compulsory to grade, although in order to achieve fundamental knowledge of pole dancing there has to be a bench mark of technical expertise. Grading also opens many doors to competitions, master classes and instructor opportunities. Grading can be stressful, but overcoming this is also part of a student's progression and shows how the student can operate when under pressure. This is an important skill to master if students are wishing to perform onstage and/or enter competitions in the future. It is possible for anybody to learn and perform pole dancing tricks and poses, however, dance, fluidity and finesse is much more difficult to master. Sadly, expression and dance are often neglected and sometimes confused with erotica, when in reality dance plays an extremely important part in executing tricks with an artistic, gymnastic manner along with smooth, flawless transitions from one trick to other.
