With the massive popularity of pole dancing throughout the world we have found the implementation of a grading system has benefited students immensely, giving clearly defined goals to work towards along with setting the standard of pole dancers to come.
It is not compulsory to grade, although in order to achieve fundamental knowledge of pole dancing there has to be a bench mark of technical expertise. Grading also opens many doors to competitions, master classes and instructor opportunities. Grading can be stressful, but overcoming this is also part of a student’s progression and shows how the student can operate when under pressure. This is an important skill to master if students are wishing to perform onstage and/or enter competitions in the future. It is possible for anybody to learn and perform pole dancing tricks and poses, however, dance, fluidity and finesse is much more difficult to master. Sadly, expression and dance are often neglected and sometimes confused with erotica, when in reality dance plays an extremely important part in executing tricks with an artistic, gymnastic manner along with smooth, flawless transitions from one trick to other.
Students have the opportunity to achieve a ‘Pass’, ‘Merit’ or ‘Distinction’ at each grade level. The difference a between these awards depends on a fluid and correct execution of a trick along with an ability to finish a trick smoothly (i.e. displaying confidence and finesse as if performing as part of a routine).
For example: A distinction would be awarded if a student correctly executes a spin using momentum and finishes smoothly. Students may fail a grading level if seen to be jumping or using force to execute tricks.
We recommend either booking or attending lessons before grading to smooth out tricks, perfect routines and iron out any bad habits. Our instructors are always more than happy to help with any aspect of grading.
Simply click on the ‘buy now’ button and state which level (s) you wish to be graded at – it’s that easy!
Participation in each grade level is £20, each student will receive a certificate and grade garter upon finishing each grade.
You will be sharing poles with others during your grading so if you must use grip of any kind we ask that it is limited only to routines. Please inform us if you intend to use grip.
Your normal pole dancing attire will be fine. Please make sure you wear shoes or socks (no bare feet). Dance outfits and costumes look great when performing routines and we welcome these with open arms!
Grading will take place as a group on two poles. The examiners will call two girls at a time to perform a trick listed in the level you are grading at. Routines are performed solo. At the end of each level the examiners will present certificates and grade garters.
Your routine should last 2-3 minutes. You will be required to bring a CD with the track you wish to perform to. If you are wearing a costume it’s a good idea to practice your routine in costume to make sure you are able to dance comfortably.
You will be invited to re-grade within 2 weeks at a reduced rate of £5. Sadly we cannot refund the cost of your initial grading.
White – Level 1 –
As with any trick – DON’T PANIC! Take your time. Keep your toes pointed and keep your body strong.
Baby Pink – Level 2 -
RELAX! Think about momentum and try not to force any trick – point your toes! Stay calm and try not to rush your routine. SMILE! Stage presence is extremely important; you will gain points for smiling. Pole dancing is fun!
